New Camera
Hello all!
I’ve finally done it; I’ve bought my first film camera! I was lucky enough to stumble upon a camera bag with 3 lens, lens care accessories, a strap, and (obviously) the camera body itself at a local thrift store! It was a Minolta SRT 202 that appeared to have some damage but looked fixable. I took it to Central Camera Co. who then sent me to a local camera expert, Chicago Camera Specialists. Long story short, the owner said the cost to fix it would be the same as just buying a new one, so he took the parts from the SRT 202 and serviced an SRT 101. Coincidentally, my friend has the exact same brand and model, so she is showing me the ropes of shooting on film.
As of today, I’ve taken 11 of 36 shots. I really enjoy how using film is pushing me to think harder and be decisive when taking photos. Digital and film have their different benefits in terms of creative freedom and I have found that film is giving me the kind of limitations that only breed more creativity. I am eager to share my first roll and can’t wait for everything that will follow!
